How to motivate and activate your teams’ work with ESG

While most companies have been working with ESG related activities for a handful of years now, it is far from all employees who have been involved in this work.

At least not directly.

Today, very few (if any) employees can do their job without affecting your company’s ESG performance.

But just as few have experience working with ESG, and they all have existing tasks to complete.

So, the big challenge is – how do you make sure your colleagues have the right competencies to manage their ESG related tasks, and how do you make sure they prioritise them?

There are a lot of tools you can use to up the motivation amongst your colleagues, and they can be combined exactly as you see fit.

We have listed five of our favourites:

  1. Someone takes on the role of project manager and conducts regular status meetings. We can help - check out our part-time CSR manager solution.

  2. You include ESG metrics related to your employees’ field in their KPIs so their performance is also measured in relation to sustainability.

  3. You set up an ESG committee with representatives from all of the company’s teams. The committee members keep each other updated on new initiatives, wins and challenges and help set a direction for the company.

  4. You have a specialist conduct a relevant workshop for the entire company or for specific teams. The workshops can be about a certain topic such as communication, legislation, materials or something else entirely, or they can be more general about sustainability opportunities in your industry or the development of an ESG strategy. Read about our workshops here.

  5. You arrange for a selection of employees to be sent off for education and courses that provides them with some of the tools they are lacking. We offer education for employees - read about it in English and Danish.
