Deep Diving into Material Strategy

Knowledge is power.

A material strategy will grant you the power to meet existing and future legislative requirements.

And we all want to be ahead of the game, right?

That's why we’ve created a Sustaina Deep Dive dealing with Material Strategy to help you along the way.

Keep reading for an introduction to the topic and to see the price and what’s included when buying the Material Deep Dive.

Material Strategy briefly explained

A material strategy helps you assess your risks while clearly communicating your sustainability goals and direction.

What’s more?

It helps you prepare for legislative requirements such as the Ecodesign Regulation

Why do you need a Materials Strategy?

To future-proof your business.

A material strategy is key when wanting to meet existing and future legislative requirements.

Such as the Ecodesign Regulation, which is a part of the EU textile strategy.

It helps you stay compliant, reduces risk, and builds trust with your customers.

And there's more

It helps you track your progress by setting clear goals.

Plus, it makes sure sales, marketing, and customer service are all on the same page, so communication is easier.

Need we say more?

What is Eco design?

We know most of you are already fully aware that new Ecodesign requirements are coming

The previous Ecodesign Directive is being replaced with the ESPR (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation).

ESPR, which entered into force in July, will add more detailed Ecodesign rules for a lot more products.

It focuses on designing products with the environment in mind, aiming to reduce their impact from start to finish.

The idea behind ESPR is to set key requirements, including for the textile industry.

  • Durability

  • Reusability & Reparability

  • Recycled Content

  • Recyclability

  • Substances of Concern

  • Energy & Water Efficiency

  • Carbon and Environmental Footprints

What is the Digital Product Passport?

Many of you may have heard about the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

The DPP is a digital tool that tracks detailed information about a product's lifecycle, from its design and manufacturing to its usage, recycling, and end-of-life.

Its purpose is to boost transparency, sustainability, and circularity by ensuring essential data is available throughout a product's entire lifespan.

However, the specific requirements for what the DPP must include are still being defined by the EU.

This was only a teaser for the Material Deep Dive.
